Word of mouth marketing (WOMM) pioneer, speaker, and author, Ted Wright helps audiences realize marketing concepts in ways they have NEVER perceived them before through engaging, interactive, and impactful presentations. Ted’s primary goal for each presentation is to leave attendees inspired to be better marketers so they can sell more to more people, more often, for more money. Sounds pretty good, right?
In today’s Friday Featured Speaker spotlight, we take a deeper dive into word of mouth by picking Ted’s brain. Here is what he had to share:
WOMM includes tactics such an evangelist, viral, grassroots, and seeding. Why are these distinct tactics to use?
TED: We really are agnostic about tactics. We believe it’s been half a century since new tactics have been invented and the only difference between a telegram in World War II and a tweet today is how fast it gets to you.
The question is not, “What tactic?” the question is, “What tactics are going to create the most conversation for the least amount of money?” I’ll share an example… you can be a sponsor of the Sugar Bowl but instead of creating ads, you need to get in front of people and have conversations with them at the stadium. The keyword there is conversations conversations result in awareness and testimony for your brand and are your greatest competitive advantage.
Describe your approach when it comes to helping audiences realize marketing concepts in ways they have never perceived them.
TED: We share what we think the truth is and we have all the data to back up why we think it is true. We put the information in front of people and let them decide.
Our whole philosophy is to share the information we have in the most dynamic and data-backed way possible so it is easy to understand — you decide from there. Because we were the first to really do this in the modern age, we have all the facts, figures, and studies in this very unique, small space. We have it all at our fingertips…
